WHAT MAKES A DIVOT DIVA'S HEART GO A-FLUTTER?
The scene of pro golf these days is a very good one indeed; a good looking one from a female spectator viewpoint that is. There’s so much eye candy out there, it sure makes watching pro golf much more fun for the ladies than it used to be.

WHAT A HUNK...AND NICE TOO
Step aside Tiger, golf has a new hunk on the block. And he speaks with a oh-so-sexy Spanish accent. Of course, we're speaking about Camillo Villegas. And I got up close and personal (well, as personal as he'd allow) with the dashing caballero from Colombia recently when he was in town for the Barclays Singapore Open.

FASHION FORE-WARD
Golf is getting much more fun to watch these days due to some less sartorially stuffy players flirting with fashion options. Trust me, from a clothes perspective today’s golf is nothing like what was used to.
We love the looks that Daly continues to sport with loud gusto; prints that are fun, fiesty and funky! John went from groovy hippy flower power pants on Friday to animal type prints in red and black on Saturday, and finally a patriotic stars and stripes get up on Final day.

THE CHANGEABLE NATURE OF WEATHER, GOLF AND LIFE

When traveling and playing golf in Scotland, the weather is as much of a concern as the quality of the golf courses. Even in the height of summer, the days can be cold enough to make layering up a necessity. Such seemed to have been the case when this year’s Open was played in St Andrews.

"Putt"-ing golfers to the test
Women’s magazines are full of these tests that claim to determine what type of personality or thinker you are by the way you use your lipstick or how you answer some questions about your family and friends, or choosing a certain animal that best represents you. From the sleep position you take, to which ear you hold the phone up to, the insight generated from these loaded questions proclaim to define you as right brain and logical or left brain and creative, or introvert versus extrovert or passive-aggressive.

Act of faith
Getting a hole-in-one in golf is like nursing a religious faith: the desire for things hoped for, the evidence of an unseen force at work; and for some cynics, not until it is personally experienced and witnessed does the disbeliever change to a believer.

Service with a smile
I have seen many interesting things on the golf course, but what happened last weekend made for a great story, and it wasn’t about trick shots, a hole-in-one, dangerous monkeys, or impatient and rude golfers sending whizzing balls over my head. It was about a course marshal with a generous spirit and a golfer of equally generous proportions.

What's Your Handicap?
Seeing the courageous performances of the Paralympians recently who work so hard at overcoming their disabilities, it got me thinking about how strange it is that the system of assessing your performance in golf is termed a “handicap”?

You've Come A Long Way Baby!
Some major events happened over the few weeks. Beijing proved to the world that despite some initial problems, it could hold an Olympics like no other. Singapore pulled out all the stops to celebrate its 43rd National Day. But most importantly, after almost 20 years since having picked up a golf club, I finally broke 100.
I somehow deliriously felt my small achievement was on par with the Olympics and our nation’s four decades plus of independence.
