WHAT A HUNK...AND NICE TOO
Step aside Tiger, golf has a new hunk on the block. And he speaks with a oh-so-sexy Spanish accent. Of course, we're speaking about Camillo Villegas. And I got up close and personal (well, as personal as he'd allow) with the dashing caballero from Colombia recently when he was in town for the Barclays Singapore Open.
TaylorMade-adidas Golf, his sponsors, held a fine tea-time affair at 1-Altitude, over 60 stories above ground level for this prince charming of golf. Was the headiness I was feeliing coming from the attitude? Hmmm, I wonder...
Needless to say, the media was in full force at the event. Good thing I had my sharp elbows to help me jimmy a spot to get a good view. Things even got better when I managed to wrangle a one-on-one interview to get a closer look.
In person, Camillo doesn't loom as large as your typical Hollywood Adonis. But then again, size isn't everything. His attraction lies in his super-taut physique (have you seen the nude shots he posed for in ESPN? Ai-yai-yai, caramba!), and in the way he carries himself. Shoulders back, chest out, he struts around the green like a matador preparing for the final kill. And when he crouches down low, extending his balance leg out like a gymnast on the parallel bars, he's been known to make teenage hearts melt.
TV golf sure is more interesting today, at least as far as eye-candy is concerned. Rory McIlroy's got that kid-next-door, boyish demeanour that endears himself to fans (even though his recent dumping of his long-time manager Chubby Chandler isn't endearing in any way). Dustin Johnson may appeal to those who like their men with an air of abandon, and nonchalance when things don't work out. Rickie Fowler is certain that all-American, Pan-Asian rocker dude who can balance flash with an all-round nice guy persona. And Adam Scott still manages to hold his own with his Down Under debonair. And Jason Day can just about join Scott in this category, particu
What ever our favourite flavour, golf has definitely ramped up the pizzazz in the looks and body department.
Thank goodness.
