NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS
We're two weeks into 2010 and judging from the people that I've bumped into lately, everyone's hit the road sprinting.
What happened to easing into the new year?
I guess rebounds from economic crises does light a fire under your seat. Make hay while the sun shines, or get left behind. Hmmm, sounds like a good line for a post-crisis top-40 hit.
Jokes aside, this is also the time that we take stock of our lives up till now, and find resolutions to make them better. How can we be a better husband/wife, father/mother, son/daughter, or better still, golfer? Let me count the ways.
In 2010...my top 10 resolutions are to
1. Never leave a chip short...
2. Putt past the hole...
3. Not try to hit the ball off the tee like it was the head of the cab driver that cut into my path without signalling on the way to the course...
4. Think about how beautiful the flora and the efforts the course maintenance team puts in to keep the trees healthy when I hit one offline into the woods...
5. Understand that since my handicap contains two numbers, par is a privilege, not an expectation...
6. Believe that golf is still worth reading/watching/playing after Tiger Woods...
7. Support the kids because that's the future of the game...
8. Keep spending money until I find that putter that will never fail to sink those four-foot putts...
9. Play within my capabilities..
10. Remember that no matter how badly I play, I will always go home to a family who loves me.
