THE AMAZING RACE

And so the journey continues again with November bringing about another exciting month of golf for everyone to savour again.

The Asian Tour goes into full swing with the Tour’s biggest events– WGC-HSBC Champions in China, Barclays Singapore Open, Iskandar Johor Open and the Omega Mission Hills World Cup (held at Mission Hills Resort, Hainan, Blackstone Course, picture right) all lined-up, ready to provide a tantalising treat for all.

From China to Singapore, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei, the race for the prestigious Order of Merit crown is now on and how it shapes up will be largely determined by the Tour’s rich talent pool, all ready for their final charge.

Golf is like reality TV at its best. It’s real with full of drama and excitement.

From the fans cheering on their favourite players to sponsors wanting to leverage their brand through golf and players constantly in search of further glory and riches, golf has definitely captured the imagination of everyone who wants to get involved in the sport in all levels today.

For sponsors, they’re always on the lookout for value in their investments and I’m pleased that the Asian Tour has been a great product of benefit to them.

The Tour offers a truly global reach through our global television reach of over 200 countries and 850 million homes and media exposure, making it a globally appealing product to broadcasters and golf fans and viewers.

As a result, the Tour has seen a good rise in number of tournaments across Asia, particularly Malaysia and India where four tournaments have been staged in each country.

The Hero Indian Open last month reflected the thriving Indian economy and also the aspirations of corporates in the subcontinent who want to align themselves with golf.

With more playing opportunities now, players know that there are more opportunities for them to step in the spotlight.

They will be determined to play to their full potential and find their own success trail on the Tour.

The growing appeal of the sport through increased media coverage and the performances of our players on the world stage, which has undoubtedly inspired many to follow the game.

Spectators get to enjoy a week-long spectacle of golf with the participation of all the top players from the Asian Tour and I’m glad that we can be part of their sporting lifestyle and entertainment.

I’m sure there’ll be more turns and twists to the Order of Merit race as we countdown towards the season-ending finale in Thailand next month.

Ultimately, it will be a race to the finishing line like no other.

Stay tuned for the grand finale!
