Best of both worlds

- PRGR Zoom X
PRGR was one of the first companies that helped introduce hybrids into the fray more than a decade ago. The new Zoom X model continues the tradition with its SUS630 body that is coupled with a clubface made of 450 maraging steel. A low centre of gravity is achieved through the enlarged tungsten ball sole. Available in lofts of 19°, 22°, 25° and 29° in PRGR’s special Zoom hybrid shaft, S$569 from World of Golf.
- Cobra Baffler TWS
One of the best hybrids in the market just got better. The TWS features a tripleweighting system to provide optimal balance of centre of gravity and moment of inertia, while the larger face area with maraging steel face offers super-hot repulsion on impact. Available in lofts of 16°, 18°, 20°, 23°, 26° and 29°, S$367 from all authorised dealers.
- Mizuno JPX Hybrid
This Japanese-spec club from one of Japan’s most reputed brands offers a tungsten sole that places centre of gravity low on the clubhead. The rail design on the sole further helps it cut through the rough for playability on difficult lies. Available in lofts of 20° (3U), 23° (4U), and 26° (5U), S$549 from Golf House.
- Tourstage X-UT 101W
These wood-style hybrids feature a tungsten weight on the sole to help get the ball in the air quickly, and are notably easier to hit with than previous generation X-UTs. The clubs also come in NS-Pro steel shafts for those wishing to match their heavier irons with these longiron replacements. Available in lofts of 19°, 21° and 23°, S$449 from World of Golf.
- Callaway Diablo
The hybrid from the new Diablo range incorporates the Dual Runner Sole that helps you make good contact from a variety of conditions. The high moment of inertia head has increased perimeter weighting for greater forgiveness, while the Variable Face Thickness technology maximises ball speed for greater distances. Available in lofts of 18° (2H), 21° (3H), 24° (4H), and 27° (5H), S$340 from Pan-West.
- TaylorMade Rescue 09
The people who helped make hybrids popular have improved on their reputed Rescue range. The ’09 model features a compact head for versatility, and a lower centre of gravity to get the ball high and long. The new sole promotes square contact through all lies. Available in lofts of 17°, 19°, 22°, and 25°, S$259 with GST for Asian spec/S$229 for US spec from all authorised dealers.
- Titleist 909H
This beauty looks so nice, you’d want to take it to bed. Precision cast from 17-4 Stainless Steel, the 455 Carpenter Steel face insert provides a lively feel and great ball speed. The factory-installed SureFit Swingweight Screw helps to position the centre of gravity deep to help increase launch trajectory. Available in lofts of 15°, 17°, 19°, 21° and 24°, S$420 from all authorised dealers.
- Adams IDEA a7OS
Adams Golf proudly claim they have the No. 1 hybrids on tour. Certainly, the attractive a7OS provides enough features to deflect any objections. The ultrathin crown lowers the centre of gravity, while the proprietary heel-toe perimeter weighting increases the sweet spot. The draw-biased design helps golfers keep the right side out of play. Available in lofts of 17°, 19°, 22°, 25° and 28°, S$299 from Golf House.
- Kasco Power Tornado Super Hyten
Not long ago, Kasco was famous for their Power Tornado hybrids. After a few quiet years, they’re back with new models, hoping to reclaim past glories. The current series features the same attractive oval heads in a hosel-less design. The forged heads now feature a unique single rail on the sole to help get the ball out of the rough. Available in lofts of 16° (33), 19° (44), 22° (55), 25° (77) and 28° (99), S$540 from World of Golf.
- Maruman Conductor
The unique Aero Groove sole design reduces the amount of area the sole makes with the ground, thus helping the club through various lies with great ease. Maruman’s Top Blade design purportedly helps golfers with alignment as well. Available in lofts of 19° (U3), 22° (U4), and 25° (U5), S$315 from Transview Golf.
