STEAL MY FEEL

DRAW IT WITH YOUR PATH By Hunter Mahan
In the past, when I wanted to hit a draw, I did it mostly on talent. By that I mean I could tweak my hands at impact to shut the face and get the ball to turn over, but it wasn’t the most reliable method—and I wouldn’t recommend it for amateurs. So instead, I’ve been trying to get rid of that flip and learn to draw the ball by changing my club’s path.
I’m working to take the club back more inside the target line and turn my back to the target more. This creates a lot of room for my driver to swing down on an in-to-out path through impact. For me, it really feels as if I’m swinging out more to the right of my target. It’s an exaggerated move, and the club is actually not going outside the target line through the shot, but that’s what it feels like.
If I create that room to the inside, it allows me to be very aggressive as I turn through. And the funny thing is, if I do it just right, the ball draws only a couple of yards. But that’s what I want, because that shot’s easy to control.
