2nd Junior Golf Association Tournament
Day Out For Junior

Golf for the kids in Singapore got a shot in the arm with the formation of the Junior Golf Association (JGA). Parents who felt that there are limited playing opportunities for young golfers in Singapore founded the group. As such, they organise a series of tournaments throughout the year, creating a competitive yet fun environment where kids can get to play against each other.

On Feb 7, 44 young golfers took part in their 2nd JGA tournament. It was held at the executive course of the Jurong Country Club. The tournament was opened to boys and girls holding either PCs or handicap cards. Golfer swere categorised according to gender, age, and whether they were PC-holders or had a handicap. Eleven-year-old Ashley Loh beat her peers narrowly in the handicap category, winning by only one stroke after the nett scores were tallied. Nicholas Tang also won by the same margin in the boys’ handicap category showing that competition is close at the top. Chloe Chua (Girls’ PC), Ray Chng (Boys’ Under-18 PC) and Brian Bolte (Boys’ Under-11 PC) completed the winners’ list.
