Leong carded a consistent 74-74 for the first two rounds, which brought him to the top of the leaderboard going into round three. Joining him at the top was fellow national golfer Johnson Poh. Poh held the lead after the first round with a one-over 72 but failed to hold off Leong, as he scored a 5-over 76 for the second round. What was supposed to be a showdown over 18 holes between two top national golfers turned out literally, to be a damp squib. Thunderstorms blitzed Warren’s golf course, causing many fairways and greens to be flooded. As a result, the third and final round had to be called off and replaced with a sudden death playoff between Jonathan Leong and Johnson Poh. Leong settled it as soon as it started, with a birdie at the first playoff hole. Marc Ong and Mark Varela took the 3rd and 4th positions, respectively, on count back.
Selected results: 148: Leong Kit Wai Jonathan 74-74 (winner after sudden-death playoff)
