SICC Ladies Open 2009
Ladies rule
It was apt that Singapore’s biggest golf club hosted the year’s largest ladies’ open when more than 250 keen women golfers signed up for the event. Top contestants from more than 10 Singapore golf clubs took their best game onto the challenging New Course on July 30 – all in the spirit of golf and the women’s game.
With a total of eight handicap divisions, all golfers had a chance to win some of the wonderful prizes offered. From the first tee-off at 6.52am to the last at 1.45pm, the competition was keen and exciting.
Seletar Country Club’s Melissa Loh, one of Singapore’s top women golfers, won the coveted Challenge Trophy in a playoff against Michelle Ang of Tanah Merah Country Club after posting a final score of 76. Attractive prizes – comprising shopping vouchers, watches, skin care and golfing products – were awarded to the top one-third of every division. The long list of sponsors included DBS and Clarins.
Dinner was a spectacular event at Hong Yuen, as the ladies were rewarded for a hard day’s golf with a sumptuous meal, rousing entertainment and the prize presentation ceremony. The ladies took over the dance floor after the second course of the meal, dancing away to music befitting the dinner’s theme – “Greased Lightning” – from a live band. The festivities lasted late into the night, as the ladies got their second wind and stayed back to make a good time out of it.
