Golf Digest Singapore Corporate-Pro Day 2010
Playing with the pros

Golf Digest Singapore organised a special event for its clients on March 12, 2010. The Golf Digest Singapore Corp-Pro Day provided a rare opportunity for the magazine’s business partners to spend an entire day with an Asian Tour professional, in addition to VIP treatment every step of the way.

Dedicated service came even before the day of the event, as the participants were invited to the Hugo Boss Selections boutique at Ion Orchard (one of only two in Asia) to choose the style and size of their complimentary golf shirts, sponsored by the fashion brand.

On the event day, gifts and mementos were neatly laid out in their personal lockers instead of having everything stuffed into a paper bag. Participants were also treated with a surprise at registration. There, they were given a free voucher to be exchanged for a pair of Callaway golf shoes at the Pan-West shop at Sentosa Golf Club.

The event kicked off in the morning at the driving range, where the professionals were introduced to their flight members. Asian Tour stars including Mardan Mamat, Lam Chih Bing, Scott Barr and The Open Championship 2010 qualifier Danny Chia offered plenty of tips and advice, while the clients took the chance to peek into how the professionals prepare themselves for a tournament.

The conditions are Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course was expectedly pristine. Even the short rain delay didn’t dampen the mood, and the participants took the opportunity to shoot the breeze with their pros and find out a little bit more about life on the Asian Tour.

The ParkwayHealth team comprising of Filipino professional Angelo Que, Dr Michael Tan, Dr Looi Koh Poh and Ms Irene Chua won top honours with their score of 17-under 127, winning by nine strokes over the team from Profiteers led by Malaysia’s top golfer Danny Chia. They received trophies and prizes, which were presented by Eugene Low, Deputy Managing Director of SPH Magazines. In addition to the dinner and lucky draw event, the evening also included an informative question and answer session conducted by specialists from ParkwayHealth, the event’s main sponsor. Concerns such as knee pains, LASIK complications, varicose veins and wrist aches were answered professionally by the medical doctors on stage.

“Golf Digest Singapore is delighted to partner with Asian Tour to stage and offer to our clients a unique one-of-a-kind golf experience,” says Eugene Low. “Such an event allows us to add value, work closer with our clients and develop new winning partnerships.”
