Following last year’s highly well received, inaugural Causeway Cup, it was inevitable that the Malaysian and Singapore golf media got their teams together to fight for 2009’s honours. The tournament this year was played from August 1 to 2 at the Orna Golf & Country Club.

The Malaysian’s fielded a much stronger team this year, and duly triumphed 7 – 5 in the two-day event that played in a foursome format the first round, followed by a fourball the second day. As captains of the Malaysian and Singapore teams respectively, contemporaries Patrick Ho, Golf Digest Malaysia Editor, and Ju K. Tan, Golf Digest Singapore Editor, found themselves on different sides this time round, but as in the spirit of the tournament, never strived to uphold the camaraderie that stands as the tenet for the event.

As in 2008, the event was graciously sponsored by many stalwarts of the golf industry. The outfits for the Singapore team were sponsored by adidas Golf (first day), and FootJoy (second day), while that for the Malaysian side was provided by Crest Link. Orna Golf & Country Club were the kind sponsors of the venue this year, and the wonderfully challenging and playable course in Malacca provided a great platform for the slug-out. Acushnet Singapore also kindly sponsored headgear for the Singapore team, as well as Titleist ProV1 balls for the victors.
