Marina at Keppel Bay came alive on April 15 to 18, when it hosted the prestigious Boat Asia 2010. The event attracted over 10,000 visitors over the duration of the four-day event, which featured 130 exhibitors from the high-end property, boating, marine equipment and luxury lifestyle sectors. Most significantly, dealers from brands such as Fairline, Horizon and Integrity took orders for more than 10 boats worth over S$20 million and gathered over S$30 million of sales interest.

In addition to sales, the event also showcased several yachting masterpieces. They include Asia’s first production solar boat, the Horizon SunCat 23. Visitors also enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with three magnificent vessels - Memory, Vega, Cariad and Serendipity. In line with Boat Asia’s “luxury” theme, the event presented the Lifestyle Gallery which hosted top names including Davidoff, Gaggenau and Metakaos.

Amidst the pomposity, a significant amount of money was raised for charity. Boat Asia’s Charity Gala, held at Amara Sanctuary Resort, raised S$122,000 for The Straits Times School Pocket and the newly setup The Business Times Budding Artists Fund. A portion of sales from the Lifestyle Gallery was also donated to the designated charities.
